First Impressions

After first receiving my package, I was really impressed with how sleek all of the packaging was. I really like the white caps wth silver lettering. The glass bottle on the foundation made it feel super luxe and it’s great that it has a pump. The glass bottle also adorns Colourpop’s signature white stars.

Once I actually squirted some product out, it seemed quite runny. I was actually shocked at how runny it seemed with how full coverage it claims to be. Once I started blending out that portion with my finger, it did seem to thicken up and the coverage seemed good.

I purchased the shade Light 50 and the translucent loose setting powder. Light 50 is a bit dark for me, but it works well as my self-tan color. It seems like a lot of the lighter shades do run very yellow and golden, so be careful if your undertone is more cool.

I applied about two pumps of foundation to my face using my Sigma Flat Top Kabuki brush. I dotted some product on sections of my face and started blending. Knowing that this is a natural matte finish, I didn’t want it to dry on me when I was blending out the other side of my face.

The product did blend out well and had good coverage. It is definitely not full coverage right away, but it can be built up quite easily. Once I added my second layer, it was full coverage and looked quite flawless.

I will say that you can definitely feel this foundation on your skin. It’s an interesting feeling. The foundation doesn’t feel heavy, but you definitely know it’s there. It also seemed like it actentuated some texture and pores. I used a hydrating primer since the foundation is matte, so maybe if I tried a smoothing or pore filling one, it would look better.

All that being said, once I set my entire face with the loose setting powder, everything was smoothed out and beautiful. The setting powder will take away any and all dewiness that your skin may have, so if you are looking for matte, this is it.  To counteract this for my dry skin, I just used a lot of setting spray and it looked perfect.

I did perform a bit of a wear test on this product as well. I applied it around 2 pm and wore it until about 11 pm. During this time I was going through the airport and flying back home to good ol Wisconsin. I was also wearing a baseball to see if the product transferred.

About 10 minutes after application

All in all I think it really held up well. It didn’t transfer to my baseball cap and whenever I would hit my face it didn’t smudge. The product did start breaking down I would say around 8 pm. By the time 11 pm rolled around, the product was pretty worn down and had settled a bit into my smile lines. I also was a bit dewy, so be careful if you have oily skin. I can also relate that to how much setting spray I used as well, since it was a hydrating formula.

Final Thoughts

IMG_3141.JPG

I really did enjoy this product. I think for $12 you can’t beat it. I’m die hard for the No Filter concealer, so I was happy I finally had something to pair it with. This foundation gave me the coverage that I wanted and I love that they offer such a large color selection.

I was not a fan of how yellow the color was, but that is definitely my fault in that I ordered that color. I also didn’t like how it accentuated some texture and pores and felt like I was wearing foundation.

In conclusion, I think it is a good product and I do recommend it, as it worked for my skin type. It held up well during my wear test and my skin looked quite flawless. Just be conscious of your skin type and try this product with a few different primers before making up your mind entirely.

I also highly recommend the setting powder. It really smoothed out the skin and helped keep everything in place.

Have you tried this product before? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments!
