How To Achieve The Perfect Bronze Goddess Makeup

How To Achieve The Perfect Bronze Goddess Makeup

Welcome back to Haley’s Beauty Room! Summer is just around the corner, so that means bronze, sun-kissed, glowy, goddess makeup looks galore. In a recent post on the J. Cat Chrome Eye Mousse, I mentioned how a bronze goddess makeup look is my favorite in the summer. Especially when I am freshly self tanned.

Well, I figured I would go ahead and share my favorite products to achieve this look and my top tips!

Self Tan

Of course the faster way to get that bronzed look is to actually be tan. I don’t recommend spending hours out in the sun or a tanning bed, just as those are so harmful for your skin. Plus, someone like me that has naturally fair skin can’t really get a tan in the sun, I just burn.

My top tip is to find a self tanner that gives you the color you want and lasts through the summer heat! My favorite so far is definitely the Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse in Dark. This gives me the deepest color out of any self tanner and lasts days longer. It also doesn’t transfer to any of my clothing. Check out my dedicated post on this product here.

Since that product is more on the expensive side, I also really am a fan of the more affordable St. Moriz products. Their tanning lotion in dark and the fast tanning mousse are my faves. These products are definitely more affordable than Loving Tan, but they do not last as long or get as dark either.

Self tanning is totally personal preference and you can skip this step entirely if you would like as well!

Dewy Foundation

You don’t need a full coverage foundation for this look actually. You can go with a tinted moisturizer or CC cream for more coverage. I customize this look based on day or night. During the day I always go lighter in coverage, but if I’m headed to an event or a night on the town, I typically go more full coverage.

No matter which route you choose, I always recommend something with a dewy or natural finish. If you have normal to dry skin, definitely go with dewy. All other skin types should probably stick to natural. You can also turn any foundation finish dewy by adding in some beauty oil.

I am still recommending the Physician’s Formula The Healthy Foundation, because its essentially my favorite foundation to ever exist. This foundation also has some SPF, so your skin will be protected from the summer sun!

Bronzer, Bronzer, and more Bronzer!

Would this even be a bronze goddess look without bronzer? I mean, come on. In the summer, I think you can be way more heavy handed with the bronzer, but you still have to be careful.

Typically bronzer is applied to the outer perimeter of the face. For a nice glow in the summer, I personally feel that you can bring the product to the center of your face slightly too. Touching the nose and forehead a bit brings a natural glow and looks like you were actually out in the sun.

When my face is in the sun, the center of my face gets color first, so that’s how I look at applying. Still be very careful when doing this, you don’t want to go overboard.

My top bronzers for this step in the summer are definitely the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer. I have talked about this endlessly, so I’ll just say this is great.

I also like to get bit more glowy with my bronzers this time of year, if you have deeper skin, try adding MAC Gold Deposit Mineralize Skinfinish over top of your bronzers to give them a dewy appearance and a nice glow.

Lighter skin tones can use this too, just be careful to not make your appearance orange!

I also prefer cream and liquid bronzers during the summer. My look goes way more dewy in appearance this time of year and liquid bronzers are the perfect way to achieve that. My favorite is still the Wet N Wild Cushion Bronzer!

Highlighter Honey

Bust out the gold, shimmery highlighters honey! You are dewy, bronzed, and need to glow! Since your complexion is typically darker this time of year, you can go deeper in highlight shades. Golds, coppers, rose golds, you name it, this is their time to shine!

Make sure you focus on the high points of your face, but also add some highlighter down the bridge of your nose, cupid’s bow, chin, and center of the forehead. This gives a dewy finish without looking oily.

I am hardcore obsessed with the Kylie Cosmetics Ultra Glow loose powder highlight in Santorini. This champagne color is bold and reflective!

Warm Blush

Bring out your corals! Warmer blush shades are a necessity when it comes to a bronze goddess look. I am obsessed with NARS Orgasm blush. This warmer pink with gold shimmer is the definition of bronze goddess.

Don’t want to spend that much? Bella Bellini from Milani is a straight up dupe!

Juicy, Nude Lips

When going for a bronze goddess look, nude lipstick looks great. However, if you just used a nude gloss that was extra shiny, it would be perfect!

I also actually think that glosses with a bit of shimmer look even better for this look. The recently launched Neat Freak gloss from Colourpop is absolutely stunning.

I also highly recommend any of the glosses from Buxom. You will have the juiciest lips around from these babies.

Glowing Eyes

Keep it simple on the eyes, but still have them glowing. What I like to do to achieve this look is put some of my bronzer in the crease for definition, but then take a shimmery, bronze-gold cream shadow and place it all over the lid. Try the new chrome eye mousses from J. Cat Beauty. This recent post details everything about them.

You can then take your bronzer along the lower lash line for some added definition. Also bust out your most elongating mascara, long lashes look great with this look, but you don’t need falsies.

That’s all you really need to do on the eyes, super simple!

That completes my top tips and products for the perfect bronze goddess makeup look. What are your favorite products for a look like this? Any top tips? Let me know in the comments!
