The Detox Shampoo You’ll Never Want To Be Without

Welcome back to Haley’s Beauty Room! Do you ever just feel like your hair is just weighed down and limp? Does it still feel “dirty” even though you may have just washed it? Well, minerals from water, dry shampoo, oil, and other grime gets built up on our hair on a daily basis.

I am not a professional hair stylist/colorist, but from my own research and recommendations given to me by my stylists in the past, we need to be using a detox or clarifying shampoo about once a week. This can change based on hair type and needs, but once a week seems to be standard.

I have fine hair, a dry scalp, and my hair tends to get oily very fast. Not sure how that trio happened, but here we are. Anyway, I usually clarify about 1 to 2 times a week depending how much dry shampoo/hair products I’ve used that week. This means I go through a lot of detox shampoo and I’ve tried a ton of different brands from high-end to drugstore.

Because the detox or clarifying shampoo’s main purpose is to remove impurities, they can often strip the hair so much that you are left with a dry, itchy scalp, or straw-like feeling hair. I often found that after using a detox shampoo, I immediately had to follow up with a heavy-duty hair mask just to bring some moisture and life back into my hair. Always on the hunt for a new and exciting product, Maple Holistics reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in trying their new detox shampoo. If you read my previous post on their Silk 18 Shampoo, you’d know that I was a huge fan and still to this day use that shampoo almost every time I wash my hair. If you couldn’t tell from the title, of course I loved this product and below I will tell you why!

Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Benefits

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has long been said to have many health properties. I personally cannot attest to those and I’m not sure if it has been scientifically proven, so I would say always do the research for yourself.

However, utilizing ACV within your hair care routine can help with scalp health, hair strengthening, and enhance shine. It is a great natural remedy to explore, especially if you are sensitive to many chemicals found in our modern day beauty routines.

That being said, straight up apple cider vinegar used on hair can end up being overdone easily and the smell is often too harsh for many people to use. That is why I think it’s fabulous that this product contains this great ingredient, while combining it with others to ensure we are getting beautiful, healthy hair and to give yourself that deep detox you’re needing.

My Experience

I first used this shampoo after I hadn’t washed my hair in a few days and I had quite a bit of oil built up, as well as the dry shampoo I had been using. I used a liberal amount, massaged into my hair and scalp pretty well, and then let sit for a few minutes as indicated by the directions.

After rinsing out I was greatly surprised by how my hair didn’t feel like straw. It felt pretty silky and almost like I didn’t even need to use conditioner. However, I did follow up with my normal routine. After one use it seemed like my hair did not get dirty as fast, was shinier, and just had more life overall.

Since then, I have used this product multiple times and each time I am more and more impressed with how it really does detox my hair without stripping it. It’s definitely safe on color-treated hair and will work for all hair types. You don’t need to follow up with a heavy mask, but you definitely can and your hair won’t be weighed down. I find with this product I only need to detox about once a week compared to my once or twice with other products like this.

Overall I am seriously impressed with the price of this item, the ingredients, and how well it performs. I whole-heartedly recommend this to anyone, as we all need a good detox in our lives. Your hair, drama, boys, you do that detox, honey.
