Anti-Haul Spring 2018

Welcome back my beauties! With so many launches and not enough money in my bank account, I figured I’d write a post about all of the products I don’t plan on purchasing.

I don’t plan on getting these products, as I either feel they are outrageously priced, I don’t need them, or they just don’t seem that good. If you are planning on getting any of these or already own them, that’s great too! Makeup and beauty products are all up to personal preference!

So, if you’re interested to find out what I will not be getting this season, then keep on reading.

Fenty Beauty Body Lava (releases April 6th)

This is the product that inspired this post honestly. Rihanna girl, let’s have a chat. In what world, do you think it’s cool to charge people $59 for a SHIMMER LOTION?!

Plus, these “lotions” only have 3.9 oz. of product. You’re breaking my heart here Rihanna, but you won’t be breaking my bank.

Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer

This product is a velvety primer that is supposed to smooth the skin and increase the longevity of your makeup.

I have seen so many mixed reviews on this product that I am just so meh about it. Plus, can we talk about the fact that this primer is $52 for less than 1 oz. of product?! Oh honey, no thank you.

Too Faced Natural Face and Eyeshadow Palettes

This one is a bit different because all of the colors in this collection are absolutely stunning. They are perfect for daily wear and someone who just needs one or two palettes in their collection.

Regardless, I have so many palettes with neutral colors that these would just sit collecting dust. Plus, $38 for the eyeshadow palettes and $44 for the face palette is kind of steep. I will be passing on these, however, the lipsticks in this collection look stunning and I will for sure be picking up at least one!

Tarte Mermaid Skin Hyaluronic H2O Serum

Tarte has really been in to releasing skincare products. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, as the ingredients are typically top notch.

That being said, Tarte is over here trying to charge $42 for 1.7 oz of this serum. I just look at that and say I can get Hyaluronic Acid from The Ordinary for a fraction of the price and it actually works better, as it’s not watered down with other ingredients.

Urban Decay Backtalk Palette

Nothing wrong with the soft berry and mauve palette from Urban Decay, except we’ve seen it all before. I love Urban Decay, but I feel like they have had some very mediocre launches lately.

This is something I just don’t need in my collection and the powders don’t seem that great either. I will spare myself from spending $46 on this palette.

Laura Geller Dewdreamer Illuminating Drops

Another product that is actually really pretty, but I don’t need it. These illuminating drops come in four stunning shades, but with all the competition from Cover FX, Iconic London, J.Cat Beauty, etc. do I really need more highlighter drops?

This product is also at the top end of the price range at $32 for .51 oz. My J.Cat drops are $8.99 for the same amount of product.

KKW Conceal Bake Brighten Concealer Kit

KKW is playing some games if she thinks I am about to pull out my wallet and buy this concealer kit for $80. No ma’am not today!

I’m sure the products perform well, but I am the last person that needs more concealer or baking powder. Plus, can we talk about those janky brushes? Hard pass.

Marc Jacobs Shameless Foundation

This item has a ton of mixed reviews as well. Honestly, I just think it’s overhyped and won’t perform well on my skin.

I also do not want to spend $46 on 1 oz. of product. I will be sticking with my Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation for quite some time to come.

Smashbox Limited Edition Primer Waters

I know a ton of people who are die hard for the Smashbox Primer Water. Personally, I have never been into it, as I instead go for the Urban Decay priming mists or a skincare mist.

Smashbox did release three, limited edition scents with the same Primer Water formula. I will not be purchasing these as I don’t need them and I think they don’t smell pleasing at all.

$32 for 3.9 oz. of product.

Kopari Beauty Save Face Oil and others

I have a love hate relationship with Kopari. I see rave reviews about their products all the time, but I can’t get over the price for what is basically glorified coconut oil. I am obsessed with incorporating coconut oil into my skincare routine, but I pay $6 for a jar of extra virgin and organic at Trader Joe’s.

I just feel like the prices are outrageous for something you could get at the grocery store. Before you drop your hard earned cash on these products, just look at the ingredients.

NARS Wanted Vol. I & Vol. II Cheek Palettes

Have you ever thought about how long it takes you to go through blush? I can honestly say that I’ve only ever hit pan on a blush once and I have had that product for about 6 years now. Way past the expiration date and I should probably throw it out.

With that in mind, I think I would die before I used up an entire palette like this. Plus, NARS wants $59 per palette. Umm sorry honey, it’s a no from me (Simon Colwell voice).

Too Faced Festival Collection

This whole collection just seems really pointless to me. Too Faced is known for coming out with these fun, colorful collections. However, I see no daily applicability on these products. Even if I was going to a festival I probably wouldn’t reach for these.

For the typical person, these items are cute, but not practical. I will be passing on this whole collection.

What product(s) are you not planning to purchase this season? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Omg! You are hilarious. I love what you said about those KKW products. I will not be forking over my hard earned coins for any of her products or family’s simply because I don’t want to. Those Tarte palettes can go too! Thanks for sharing:-)

  2. I agree with you about most of the products, they seem to be gimmicky and a waste of money. At first, I was excited about the Backtalk palette, but after reading some reviews and seeing some videos on it, I’m not impressed and for the price that one is also a pass for me. I wasn’t interested in the Too Faced Natural collection until I saw it at the Ipsy Gen convention. I picked up the face palette (haven’t used it yet) and a lipstick (used it a few times and really like it) for 40% off. And I know the Too Faced Life’s a Festival palette is majorly gimmicky, but it’s right up my alley. I bought that palette right before reading this post and had to laugh. Stay strong and I think I need to put myself on a makeup no-buy.

    1. If I was able to get the Too Faced Natural Collection for 40% off, I would definitely buy it too! Plus, if the Festival Collection is your thing, than it’s perfect to buy. Makeup is personal preference and you do what makes you happy! Thanks so much for reading 🙂
