Welcome back to Haley’s Beauty Room! It is the end of February already. Wow, it’s almost spring! So you know the drill, at the end of each month I go over products I loved and ones that were total misses for me.
This is the first time ever, but I actually have more misses than I do hits this month! This month was not a good month for me in terms of products at all. So, let’s just jump right in to this list!
Colourpop Lux Lipsticks
An obvious hit for me this past month, I got to try out the new Colourpop Lux Lipsticks! These are incredible and are my new favorite lipsticks formula…ever. Super creamy, super pigmented. Just an all around great product.
If you’d like more information on this item, check out my recent post on them.
These lippies retail for $7 apiece and can be purchased here.
Flower Beauty Seal the Deal Hydrating Setting Spray
I have been so in to Flower Beauty products lately, it’s insane. This product is no exception. Probably one of the top three drugstore setting sprays to ever be created. The mister on this is much finer than a lot of high end sprays and the product itself is top notch.
It gives great hydration, but locks your makeup in place all day. It also says it protects from pollution particles, which is an added bonus!
This spray retails for $13 and can be purchased here.
Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer
Another one in which I’m sure you expected to be on this list. This is the concealer I have been reaching for every time I do my makeup. It’s extremely full coverage, long wearing, and I like it more than Tarte Shape Tape.
It’s just $7 and can be purchased here.
NYX Glitter Primer
I know this product has been around for forever, but it just recently joined my collection. I had been hearing Beauty Guru Casey Holmes rave about this for the longest time, so I finally gave it a shot. I am SO happy that I did!
This intensifies and holds any eyeshadow or pigment in place much longer than using a damp brush ever would. It’s super easy to use when I carve my eyes for a cut crease look, it doesn’t dry down super fast, so I have time to work with it, and it will not budge all day.
Highly recommend this item and it is only $6.49. Pick one up from this site.
L.A. Girl Pro Coverage Foundation
I am seriously devastated about this one. So many people love this foundation and I could just not get it to work for me. This product is supposed to be a full coverage, illuminating, and long wearing foundation.
First thing that is wrong with this is the shade range. I bought Fair, the lightest color, and it was about four shades too dark for me. Plus it leaned super orange-red in undertone. No matter how self tanned I am, this color would not work for me.
Second, it was definitely not full coverage. It was more like a medium, if you built it up a lot. Final thing was that it sat super weird on my skin and settled in to lines very fast.
Just an all around no-go for me this month.
Models Own Cover It Concealer
I am also sad about this product as well. I saw Tati, Glam Life Guru, rave about this concealer so I knew I had to try it. I do really like Models Own items and have had a good experience, except for this product.
This concealer has a super thick consistency, like the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye, but with nowhere near the same amount of coverage. Plus the thick consistency meant that it creased really fast.
If it was full coverage like it claimed to be, I would have kept it. Instead it was returned to Ulta.
Jouer Essential High Coverage Creme Foundation
February was not my month when it came to trying out highly rated foundations. I recently ordered the Jouer Skinny Dip Eyeshadow palette, which I will review shortly, and I got a ton of samples of this foundation with it.
If you have dry skin you will hate this foundation. It is full coverage which I like, but it will cling to every single dry patch and look super cakey. I even used my most hydrating primer and it still looked like a mess.
I don’t really understand that as it’s supposed to contain Hyaluronic Acid for hydration? Anyway, it also just sat on the skin really weird and never really meshed with the rest of my makeup.
If you have oily skin, give this a go. If you have any other skin type, I’d say pass on this one.
The Ordinary Matrixyl 10% & Vitamin C Suspension 23%
These two products are on my misses list, not because they didn’t do what they claimed to do, but because these broke me out horribly. No, seriously. My skin has not had this much of a reaction to a product ever. I am currently still suffering with a ton of red bumps all over my face.
The Ordinary has some great products at amazing prices, but I am starting to question their ingredients. For example the vitamin c contains silicone and can clog your pores. Or the matrixyl, which is a peptide and may be linked to causing inflammation in the skin.
I just want you all to know that I am not a Dermatologist, I’m not even a licensed esthetician, so please do your research before deciding on any skincare product. This information listed is what I have found myself.
What were your top products for the month? Anything you didn’t like? Let me know in the comments!
