Welcome back to Haley’s Beauty Room! I hope you are all doing well and aren’t surrounded by cold and snow like I am in Michigan! Anyway! If you had the chance to tune in to my Facebook live video this past Saturday, you saw that I did a first impressions on the new Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation.
Well, here I am with my full on review! If you are interested in knowing more about this foundation are would like to know my final thoughts, then keep on reading!
Claims & Benefits
This foundation claims to be a long-wearing, buildable, and breathable foundation that provides lightweight medium to full coverage. It is also meant to have a satin, healthy finish. It also has SPF 20.
In conjunction with those characteristics, this foundation also has some pretty great ingredients. The Healthy Foundation is supposed to work well with all skin types and contains an exclusive Brightening Complex and Hyaluronic Acid. It also has added Vitamins A, C, & E for flawless, healthy coverage.
This product has pretty standard packaging for a foundation. I like that is comes in a glass bottle with a silver cap.
Something different about this product is that it doesn’t have a pump to dispense the product. Instead the cap unscrews and you get a giant doe foot applicator to apply the product. The doe foot applicator is similar in size to the Tarte Shape Tape applicator.
This foundation currently comes in 16 different shades. I purchased the shade Light Neutral 4 (LN4). Here is a picture of the shade range:
On Physicians Formula’s website this foundation retails for $14.95. However, if you look online at Ulta Beaty they are selling this product for $12.99. I purchased my bottle from Bed Bath & Beyond for $12.99.
Most places that sell Physicians Formula will probably be selling this product for $12.99.
As you will have seen in my live video, I did really like the packaging and shade range of this item. I am a fan of the doe foot applicator after using it a few times. It’s super easy to distribute on your face and I actually think it creates less of a mess because I don’t have to pump it on to the back of my hand or a palette first.
After initially putting this on and blending it out I loved it! It blends so well and doesn’t apply patchy or uneven. The foundation feels amazing on the skin and is definitely lightweight.
I do not think that this product is full coverage. It is more of a medium to full that can be built up, but never totally reaches an extremely full coverage point. It does feel very flawless on the skin and pairs perfectly with dry skin.
Because of the Hyaluronic Acid and Brightening Complex in this formula, my skin looked amazing and I never had an issue with dry patches being emphasized.
I will agree that this is a satin finish. It may be more of a satin-matte finish, but like I said never looks cakey or dry. It is also very long wearing. I wore this for longer than 8 hours and I never had a problem with the foundation wearing off or breaking down on me. It never settled in to any lines or around my nose.
I really love just how healthy my skin looks when I wear this product. I get a good amount of coverage without feeling like I have a ton of makeup on or looking cakey. The formula feels hydrating, but not over the top so more oily skin types can definitely go for this.
All in all, I absolutely love this product! I have nothing bad to say about it at all, which has not happened for me in a long time regarding a foundation. The price is not bad, maybe a little high for drugstore, but not horrible. I think this will be my go to foundation for quite some time to come and I am sure it will pop up in my 2018 Beauty Favorites!
I highly recommend this product and I think Physicians Formula outdid themselves!
