First Impressions: Tarte Chrome Paint Shadow Pots

Welcome back to Haley’s Beauty Room! This is my second post of 2018. Wow, can you believe that it is 2018? I’m over here still thinking it’s 2010 so I clearly need to catch up.

Since it is the New Year, of course we are starting all over with the yearly makeup launches! Tarte has already made a bang in to 2018 with some of their absolutely gorgeous products. Of course they came out with a new contour palette, some lip bling, and today’s product, the Chrome Paint Shadow Pots.

I first saw these products as swatches on Tarte’s Instagram page and just knew I had to at least test this out in store. Inserting the picture that drew me to this product:

It’s shiny, metallic, glittery, and all around gorgeous. How could I stay away? Yesterday I headed to Ulta to try these babies out and the swatches did not disappoint. I only purchased one color to start, Top Yacht, but more just may have to be added to my collection. Let go ahead and start breaking down my first impressions of this product.

Claims & Colors

This item is a loose pigment in a shadow pot that provides intense pigment and a mirror like effect that is supposed to last and stay put for hours. This has the high sheen of a cream or gloss, but the easy wear and application of a powder, with over 80% pure pearl pigments.

The best way to use this product is with your fingers, as the warmth from your hands will make the product melt in to the skin, without the use of an eyeshadow primer.

Taste offers a pro-tip on their website: “Try layering your favorite powder eyeshadows on top of this longwearing formula – it’ll make your look pop & last all night.”

This item currently comes in 6 different shades:

  • Steel The Show (Gunmetal Navy)
  • Top Yacht (White Champagne)
  • Martini (Olive)
  • Park Ave Princess (Metallic Bronze)
  • Fire Dance (Metallic Burgundy)
  • Pot Of Gold (Metallic Gold)

First Impressions

So of course immediately when I saw these in store they were gorgeous. Super shiny and metallic. Once swatched all colors were very intense and smooth like butter. I ended up just purchasing one color, just to give them a try. I got the white champagne color, Top Yacht.

I think the packaging is great for the product. Little glass jars with screw caps are ideal because you can seal it tight so the pigment doesn’t dry out. The gold metallic cap is so fitting for the product and looks incredibly sleek and chic.

When I applied this to my eyes, I was absolutely amazed. There was little to no fallout and it was unbelievably intense with just one swipe. Like Tarte recommends, these are best applied with a finger, but a wet brush will work as well. I used my finger for the initial application, then a small wet brush to get it precisely where I needed it.

You need such little product when it comes to this pigment that I swear I won’t ever run out of this stuff. The color is beautiful, it’s intense, and stays put. Throughout the day this never budged nor did it crease.

Final Thoughts

I 110% recommend this product. The colors are absolutely stunning, intense, and long lasting. Another use out of the color I picked up is as a highlighter. This white champagne color is the perfect shade for highlighting the face.

I for sure will be picking up more shades from this collection! My next color will most likely be Park Ave Princess, as it is the perfect metallic bronze. If you are a metallic pigment fan that is looking for something intense without being chunky, this is definitely for you.

Have you tried these out? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments!
