Girl, setting spray is esspensive! So whenever a new drugstore option is available, I am usually the first to jump on it. I know Kokie has been in Walmart and other retailers for several months, but it just showed up at my local Meijer recently. It was actually perfect timing because I just ran out of my Urban Decay Chill.
So I was casually strolling through the drugstore makeup and saw this hydrating setting spray. They offer this hydrating spray as well as a mattifying one. You already know the story my skin is dry blah blah blah, so I definitely do not need the mattifying one. I am always skeptical with new brands, but needed to give it a shot because ya girl needs setting spray otherwise she’ll be cake face.
This setting spray claims to:
- Prevent makeup from smudging or settling
- Provide light moisture
- Have a dewy finish
- Prolongs the wear of your makeup
- Maintain your look without touch ups
The price on this item is $8. That isn’t horrible for a drugstore setting spray, but it isn’t $3 in which you can get the e.l.f. Makeup Mist for.
First, the spray on this is not bad. It is not as fine as some of the other setting sprays out there, but it’s not bad either. It sprays evenly and doesn’t leave blotches on your face.
It doesn’t hydrate that much, but then again it only claims to provide light moisture. It does feel good after spraying in that regard, but I tend to use extra to get more hydration.
My makeup looks really good after applying this and it drying down. The powders melt in to my skin. My face has a healthy glow and doesn’t feel tight or dry.
I will say that I’m not sure if it actually prolongs my makeup. I am still testing it with all of my foundations, so I will have to come back and update you on that one. I think that it helps my makeup from not settling or smudging as much, but not a ton.
Overall I think this is a good product. If you are in the market for a new setting spray and don’t want to spend a ton of money, I say give it a try. If the mattifying one is anything like this, I think my oily skin types may really like it.
This setting spray didn’t blow me away, but it certainly isn’t bad. As of this point, I’m not sure if I will repurchase when I run out because I like to try so many new products. I think this would be a good product to keep in your purse for refreshing throughout the day, especially in the dry, Winter months.
Have you tried this setting spray before? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments!
