October 2017 Hits & Misses

Hello my dears and welcome back to another favorites post! October flew by. Seriously, it feels like it should still be September, but here we are in the beginning of November. I won’t complain too much though, as Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year!

Since this month went by so fast and I was incredibly busy, I don’t have too many products to share with you. There were a few items that I have been using constantly since purchasing and those that I am still trying to make my mind up about.

So if you’re interested in finding out what I loved in October and some things that I didn’t like as much, then keep on reading!

I’d say the first hit of the month for me is definitely the NYX Honey Dew Me Up Skin Serum & Primer. Usually this product is sold out at any place that sells NYX, so when I saw one left at my local Ulta I immediately snatched it up.

This primer is meant to neutralize any discoloration and redness. It also has tiny gold flecks in it to keep you looking radiant and glowy all day long. The primer has honey and collagen in it, which will help with moisturizing your skin.

I feel that this definitely helps with redness on your face. It also keeps your skin looking healthy and fresh, even under a lot of makeup. I paired this primer with a pore refining primer, just in areas that I really needed it.

Even alone this primer helped my makeup stay on a lot longer, you just need to make sure you let it dry down all of the way, until it gets a tacky feeling. Your skin will look smooth and fresh.

The only thing I don’t like about this product is the spatula applicator. It feels weird smearing it on your face and I wish this product instead had a pump. The price point is also a lot higher than most drugstore primers at $16.99. You need only a small amount, so it should last you awhile, but be warned it is pricier.

Next up on the Hits list is the Covergirl Healthy Elixir Foundation. For some reason I just did not want to like this no matter how hard I tried, but here we are and I do actually really like this product.

This foundation is vitamin-infused and has antioxidants. It is a hydrating formula, so if you have oily skin I would be cautious, however, it is marketed as oil free. It is a buildable coverage and gives a a luminous glow.

I feel that this product is medium to full coverage on me and feels super lightweight. It also just feels good and healthy on my skin. I think this will be my go to foundation in the winter months, as that is when my skin is its driest.

This foundation comes in 10 shades (which is lacking) and costs $11.99.

Another makeup product in my Hits this month is the Hourglass Ambient Edit 3 Palette. I did a dedicated post to this product, which you can find here. I have no joke been using this every single day since I received it. It is amazing for traveling and gives a beautiful glow.

I won’t discuss it too much, that’s what my dedicated post was for, but this product is awesome and I have been loving it!

To mix up all of the makeup hits that I have, I wanted to throw in one skincare hit that I will definitely be buying all year long. I’m talking about the Origins Drink Up-Intensive Overnight Mask.

This leave on mask is slowly becoming my all time favorite sleeping mask, even though I am obsessed with the Glamglow Thirstymud. The price on this product is just so much better at $27 for 3.4 oz and I feel like it does a bit more for my skin.

This super thick mask contains avocado and apricot kernel oil to bring moisture back and create a reservoir for the next day. It also has Japanese seaweed to repair your skin’s barrier and prevent premature signs of aging.

This made my skin so hydrated that I have been using it every night. I think I will definitely use this all winter long. I only purchased the small tub from Sephora, which was $4, but I have gotten no joke about 10 uses out of it. You need such a little amount that I think a full size bottle would last forever. Highly recommend for those with dry skin!

So I guess this isn’t really a miss, I just haven’t totally made my mind up about it yet. The product I am referring to is the NYX Total Control Drop Foundation. It’s not that this is bad, it’s just that I am not sure if they are best for my skin type.

They work best on me when I mix them in with other products, versus using on there own. When used alone my skin tends to look dry and the product clings to any dry patches. It looks so much better when I pair this with my Honey Dew Me Up Primer.

I am not saying this is a miss just yet, but I need to play around with it a little bit more. The color selection is great and this costs $13.99.

What did you love this past month? Any products you didn’t like? Let me know in the comments!
