Welcome back to Haley’s Beauty Room! Today I wanted to do another lifestyle focused post to shake things up a bit. You know that I am all about Fall. Everything related to Fall just makes me ecstatic. So you know, that basically as soon as September 1st hits, I am decorating my home to be everything Fall, even if the temperature outside does not agree.
I search multiple stores to find the best stuff, but I also don’t want to break the bank. It has been my experience that some of the best Fall decor has come at a lower price. You don’t need to shop at Pier 1 or Pottery Barn to have chic, seasonal decor. In fact, some of these items can be found at your local Target or Walmart. I find that with a little imagination and creativity, you can create some amazing looks and setups in your home that will have guests questioning if your job is an interior decorator.
So grab your coffee, or wine, and let’s get to discussing where you can find the best affordable Fall decor around!
Oh Target, how I love you so. Target is seriously life. Whenever I head to this store I always leave with something, not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. Target has good prices for good quality items.
At Target I purchased this Happy Fall sign for $5. Yup, just $5. This sign can be placed just about anywhere and it will spruce up your home’s interior. It can also go outdoors or near your front door or even hanging from your front door. The little accents are what make this sign. You get gold lettering and brown glitter on the sides. Those touches take your plain, boring sign to extra festive.
I also purchased this Hello Fall glitter pumpkin from Target for $3. I actually placed this pumpkin on my makeup desk to give that area some Fall love. You know I love glitter, so I was immediately attracted to this. Plus, for the price and modern chic look of this pumpkin, I just couldn’t pass it up.
Target usually has a section in the front of the store that contains seasonal items. That is where I usually find most of these goodies. The prices range from $1-$10 so you can stay within a budget and find super cute, unique items for the season.
Hobby Lobby is hands down my favorite store to shop at for holiday decor. I also love this tore because I do a ton of DIY projects. They offer the best prices for items and if you use some creativity you can create an item for super cheap when other stores may sell a finished similar item for an outrageous price.
One of the things that I love doing for the holidays, and this transfers in to the Winter season as well, is purchasing a glass container and then filling it with festive potpourri or random items. Hobby Lobby sells goody bags for the seasons, this one that I found for Fall has pinecones, fake berries, mini pumpkins and gourds. You essentially just have to pour the bag in this container, surround with some fake leaves and you’re done. How easy is that? This whole look probably cost less than $15.
Bonus: if you love the smell of Fall and cinnamon, try some DIY recipes to bake and scent your pinecones. This will give your home some Fall appearance well also adding some great scent.
Back on the DIY train, last year I made this wreath for less than $30. I got this inspiration for this wreath off of an image I saw on Etsy. The seller was trying to sell this wreath for $100. I kid you not, $100. I went on down to my local Hobby Lobby, found the items that I needed, got out my hot glue gun, and ta-da, we have a wreath that I get compliments on every season. This goes back to what I said where you don’t need a ton of money to decorate your home, you just need some imagination and patience, and you can do super easy DIY projects at home!
Another amazing DIY project that I did with items from Hobby Lobby are these mason jars with twine and fake flowers. I purchased three glass mason jars for about $2 a piece, got some dark gray acrylic paint, a roll of twine, and some festive fake flowers and assembled them as pictured.
This item is great because you can switch out the fake flowers for the seasons, so there is really not effort involved. During Christmas I used some festive pine and berries, during the spring and summer I have some blue flowers, and in the Fall I have these orange, red, and yellow ones.
This display works great as a dining room table centerpiece, on a coffee table, you name it. The whole thing was probably around $20 once I take in to account all of the fake flowers I purchased for every season.
Marshalls/ TJ Maxx/ Home Goods
Another favorite all year round for me is the trifecta of Marshals, TJ Maxx, and Home Goods. These stores offer so many items at super affordable prices that you can walk out something fabulous every singe time.
Plus, since these stores always have different items in stock, it’s like a surprise each time you shop. It is also interesting how you can go to say one Marshals, then drive like 10 minutes away to a different location, and they will have totally different items. If you are willing to put in the effort to find and seek out some of these stores, you can find great items.
At these stores I love to purchase kitchen items and decor. A lot of other stores on this list don’t have too many of those items, so if you are looking to add seasonal items to your kitchen or bathrooms, definitely check these stores out.
One of the fastest and easiest ways to get your kitchen in the holiday spirit is to buy some cute kitchen towels. I purchased the three up top at Marshall’s and Home Goods and they add the right amount of Fall to my kitchen. I feel like sometimes kitchens are hard to decorate for the seasons as we don’t think of them as the main area to spice up. Go get some $5 kitchen towels, maybe add a cute candle and you are golden.
Dollar Tree/ Dollar General
Another great location to get affordable items for the season is a dollar store. This is a great place to get glassware, like mentioned above and fake leaves. As you can see in a lot of my pictures, I have fakes leaves in the background or as accent pieces.
Fake leaves can add so much to your home decor as they can be put essentially anywhere. I put them besides candles (carefully of course), individual leaves can be laid out on TV stands, really anywhere you would like them. Plus at the dollar store you can get a full bag for maybe like $2. A cheap item that will add a ton of spirit to your seasonal decor.
I do have a few individual items that I found on sale and can be added to home decor or just spice up your whole feeling regarding Fall.
Yesterday I actually purchased this adorable mug from Francesca’s Collection. They currently have a 20% off sale for all seasonal items, so I got this mug for just $13. I don’t even need to go in to detail on why I like it ;).
Another thing that people don’t really think about as home decor, but can add a nice touch to a kitchen or bathroom is festive hand soaps. These three from Bath & Body Works smell amazing and have super cute designs and pictures, that give bathrooms and kitchens a Fall vibe.
The three pictured are Crisp Morning Air, Fall Lakeside Breeze, and Sunlight & Apple Trees. Pick these up when Bath & Body has a sale, like 6 hand soaps for $24, and then when they have a 20% off coupon you can pair with it for extra savings.
Back to Bath & Body and also including White Barn, adding decorative sleeves to your candles can also add a huge different in your Fall decor game. These sleeves are usually less than $10 a piece, with the exception of my large pumpkin one, which I believe was around $15. These items are also eligible for coupons, so sign up for Bath & Body Works emails and you can even get savings on these super cute candle sleeves.
Check out my recent post, Favorite Fall Candles, for some amazing scents that you can pair with these sleeves.
That’s it for my Affordable Fall Decor choices! These items can be mixed and matched and you can also make them work with whatever theme you have going on in your home. Just take a little time, check out all of your options, and be open to doing some DIY work, and you will be saving cash while still being on point with your home decor.
