September Hits & Misses

Oh my goodness can you believe that September is almost over?! Where did the time go? Well, now on to one of the best months of the year (and I’m not just saying that because it’s my birthday this month, ha). October really is a great month because Fall is in full swing and we have Halloween!

For the month of September, I mainly had some hits, but there was also some not so great products. Some of these items I have mentioned before, while others are new to my blog. So sit back, have a glass of wine or cup of coffee depending on what time it is (although I don’t judge 😉 ), and read up on some great products! And some who you may want to stay far from!

Skinfood Pineapple Peeling Gel

Over the past month or two I have discovered Skinfood products. They are a Korean skincare brand that has been around for awhile, but only recently came to Ulta. Since purchasing my first product, I have not been able to get back fast enough to the store to buy some more. I have discussed Skinfood on my blog a few times, so I am back here again raving about another product.

This Pineapple Peeling Gel is a non-physical exfoliant that is amazing for your skin. It contains AHA, which helps remove dead, flaky skin and excess oil in your pores. However, it doesn’t dry out your skin, nor is it so strong that you really feel like product is on your face.

The gel contains enzymes to reduce inflammation, while also providing vitamins A & C to prevent signs of aging. Immediately after using this, I notice that my skin looks clearer and my pores are tighter. It has also significantly helped with the blackheads on my nose and chin. This product is gentle enough to use every morning as well.

For just $12, you can get smooth, clear skin, that is relatively poreless.

Colourpop Brow Boss Pencil

Now this was something that I was sure that I was going to hate. Colourpop has been releasing a ton of new products lately. So much so that it’s getting hard to keep up with. After placing my order for the ‘I Think I Love You’ eyeshadow palette, I also picked up one of their new brow pencils. These pencils are only $5, so I was like “Why not?”

I think I have just discovered my new holy grail brow product. I was a dip brow kind of girl for a long time. I have also really enjoyed the Benefit Precisely My Brow, but something about the color, consistency, and formula of this product really is just perfect for my needs. There are only 4 colors in this pencil, but Colourpop does offer a more precise pencil that comes in a ton of shades. So if you’re in the market for a new brow product, I would definitely check these out as they are prestige quality for a drugstore price.

‘I Think I Love You’ Palette

Well speak of the devil. I have not been able to put this palette down since I received it. No joke this has been about the only eyeshadow that I have worn all month. It contains all of the perfect colors for Fall and the holidays. Plus the consistency and pigmentation is so on point.

These shadows blend out like a dream and are really just an amazing deal for only $16. I could go on forever about this palette, but if you would like to know more, come check out my dedicated post on this here.

FAB Ultra Repair Serum

I picked up this skincare serum in my Ulta Beauty Haul that I did about a month and a half ago. Since then I have used this product twice a day, every single day. It has significantly increased the hydration levels of my skin and also smoothed out some fine lines that I had around my eye area. I really love putting this all over my face, even under my eyes and on my eyelids. It is perfect for the eye area as it is not as heavy as a cream and it doesn’t effect the way my concealer applies.

My skin just feels so smooth and fresh after application. I do actually notice a different in the appearance of my skin when I don’t use this. The combination of this with the pineapple peeling gel has shrunk my pores a ton and reduced a lot of texture that I was getting.

Eyelure Vegas Nay Pretty Perfect Lashes

So I haven’t talked about fake lashes on my blog yet, just for the fact that I don’t wear these a ton. I try to save them for special occasions or for when I am feeling a bit more glamorous. Recently, I wanted to give individual fake lashes a shot as I was having issues with strip lashes adhering to the inner portion of my lash line. Well, that’s when I strolled across these and they have replaced all other lashes in my collection.

The Eyelure Vegas Nay Pretty Perfect Lashes are extremely full and wispy. The kit includes three different lengths so you can really create an intense, dramatic look. Or just add a few lashes for a more natural day. These also go on extremely easy and are totally lightweight.

HOWEVER, absolutely do not use the glue that comes in this kit. It is very hard to work with and you will not be able to get these off at the end of the night. I use these with my regular Duo lash glue and they turn out perfect every time. They will last all day and I never have any issues. If you are interested in trying individual lashes, I would highly recommend starting here first.

I do only have only two misses this month and unfortunately, they were big misses.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage Concealer

I have been dying to try to Lancome Teint Idole Concealer for months now as I am obsessed with the Teint Idole foundation. This concealer promises to cover all imperfections with just one drop. It is a very thick consistency so you’re only supposed to use a small amount because the pigment is very high. However, I swear this covered nothing. I got this concealer specifically for my undereye area and it did nothing.

I didn’t even take my own picture of this because I returned it like two days later! I have horrible hereditary dark circles and with the claims this concealer boasts, it should have easily been able to cover them somewhat. Plus, for $31, I better look like I slept for 16 hours straight. Long story short, don’t waste your money on this product. I get better coverage and results from a $7 drugstore concealer.

Maui Moisture Strength & Anti Breakage Agave Hair Mask

After publishing my Top 5 Masks For Damaged Hair post, I really wanted to branch out and try some other options in the market. I have heard great things about the brand Maui Moisture and for the price point you just can’t pass it up.

Well, when I saw this Anti-Breakage Mask, I figured I would give it a go since it was only $8.99. The price is about the only good thing regarding this product unfortunately.

This mask actually dried my hair out and made it break more. It did not moisturize my hair or give me any softness.

The claims on this include: increasing elasticity, reducing breakage, and mending split ends. It is also supposed to moisturize. I got none of those claims and I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone if you have dry or damaged hair.

What products did you really love this month? Any that you weren’t a fan of? Let me know in the comments!
