My Top 5 Shampoos & Conditioners

Welcome back to Haley’s Beauty Room! About 2 weeks ago I posted about the top 5 masks for damaged hair. To continue what I mentioned in that post, I really feel like hair products have become less and less talked about. To me, it seems strange as hair can be one of your best assets and accessories if properly taken care of.

I have been coloring my hair and processing my hair for years. I also have had short hair and long hair. At this point in time, my hair is pretty long. My hair type is fine, but I do have a lot of hair. The ends are also dry, but my scalp tends to get oily. I also do have some split ends and breakage, and my hair gets tangled easily. So try to wrap your head around that ha.

I have tried a multitude of products and I have also had to switch products often as my hair likes to change on me in terms of what it needs. I also need to switch when I move to different locations, as the water type in that area tends to have a large effect on my hair. Through it all, I have come to discover my top products that I will buy again and again, as I know they work well for me.

A warning, I do not have personal pictures of all of these products because that would mean my shower is literally full of 10 different hair products. The products that I do not have on hand in the moment will have images with links to where you can purchase them.

Matrix Biolage Keratindose Shampoo and Conditioner

These product are specifically formulated to help with over processed hair. Remember when I said I color and process my hair a lot? Yeah, that takes a toll. I also used to be super blonde. We’re not talking like blonde highlights, we’re talking blonde blonde. (Insert awkward photo of me in college)

This duo basically saved my hair. After all of the processing and lifting of color, this shampoo and conditioner brought back the protein to my hair that I lost. It is specifically meant to target color-treated, damaged, and frizzy hair.

Since this does contain keratin, I wouldn’t recommend using it on a daily basis. Too much keratin can actually have the reverse effect on your hair than was intended. It really just brings back softness and manageability to my hair. Over time I do notice that damaged hair is repaired. Tip, pair this with the Matrix Biolage Keratindose Pro-Keratin Renewal Spray for soft and shiny hair all day long. The shampoo can be purchased for $21 while the conditioner can be picked up for $22. I recommend waiting until Ulta has their liter sale, so you can pick up an even bigger bottle for like $15!

Matrix Biolage Fiberstrong Shampoo & Conditioner

When you are not using the Keratindose, I would suggest going with the Biolage Fibrestrong system for fragile hair. If your hair is dry, breaking, unmanageable, then you need to try these products out. These products will increase the strength of your hair and the ceramide ingredient will help repair already damaged strands.

With these products, my hair is insanely soft! It also isn’t too heavy for my fine hair, even if I tend to use too much conditioner, which I always do. It also is going to help tremendously with dry hair. After I dyed my hair darker after the blonde incident, my ends were dryer than the Sahara. This system really helped moisturize them and reduce the breakage that would be inevitable. Again, I recommend pairing this with the Biolage Fiberstrong Intra-Cylane Fortifying Cream as a leave in treatment. It also works great as a heat protectant! These are the same price as the keratindose products. Shampoo is $21 and the conditioner is $22.

Pura D’Or Scalp Therapy Shampoo & Healing Conditioner

These two are the newest members of the gang. I actually got a sample from an Ulta order awhile back and I fell in love. The Pura D’Or products are all organic, so if you’re looking for something along those lines I would highly recommend these.

Scalp Therapy
The scalp therapy shampoo has been amazing at reducing dandruff in the dryer weather, while also relieving any itching that may occur. It helps with your dry scalp, but won’t make your hair oily. I get oily near my roots, but my scalp is still dry. I think this has to do with the water in my apartment, but that’s a different issue. If you are a lover of Head & Shoulders, but it just is not doing the job, definitely try this product out!

Healing Conditioner
The healing conditioner is my saving grace. This product is 99% plant based and contains a multitude of oils and vitamins. Your hair just feels incredibly healthy afterwards and super manageable. This conditioner in terms of manageability is hands down my #1 favorite. Since my hair has gotten longer it tangles so easily. Even after using conditioner I swear I have to brush my hair forever and use a lot of leave in product, which causes other issues. With this conditioner it’s almost like a one and done. You can purchase each for $19.99. Highly recommend!

Davines Minu Shampoo & Conditioner

Davies is an Italian brand that is known for sustainable beauty. If you are looking for super high quality products that will work for all hair types and last, you should definitely look in to Davines. I personally have loved all of their products, but my favorites are definitely the Minu Shampoo & Conditioner.

These products are illuminating shampoo and conditioner specific for colored hair. If you color your hair a lot, these two will keep your color fresh until you head back to the salon for a touch up. While using this system, I experienced hardly any fading of my color, so much so that when I went back to the salon, all my stylist had to touch up were my roots.

Your hair will be soft, shiny, manageable, and healthy. Unfortunately, they are quite expensive and hard to get your hands on if you don’t want to order online, but if you see a Davines salon near you, 100% check it out. $26 for a small bottle of shampoo and $30 for the conditioner.

OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo & Conditioner

OGX Shampoo
If you are on a budget but still want something to nourish your locks, definitely check out all of the products from OGX. They have anything you could ever need for your hair type. Personally I am a fan of the coconut milk line because one, it smells amazzzzing, and 2, it is really nourishing and repairing for your hair.

OGX Conditioner
It contains whipped egg proteins to repair damage and coconut oil to bring back softness and moisture. You will notice your hair has added elasticity as well. Plus, you can get each bottle for $7.99. Who doesn’t love that? Highly recommend this brand!

What are your go to hair products? Have you tried any of these? Let me know in the comments!
